LUDOMAZE PLAY JOURNAL · MATCH & REMEMBER
Two cards. One pair. Can you remember where?
Learn the rules of Memory Match, then switch from remembering picture positions to repeating a light sequence.
Play free Memory Match →Memory Match is a picture-pair game: reveal two cards, remember their positions and find every matching pair. A short board gives you a clear goal without a long rules sheet. LudoMaze’s browser version uses sixteen cards containing eight pairs, with animal, food and space-and-nature themes.
You do not need to upload personal photos to play these boards. Open the game on the existing Scratch Reveal page, choose a theme and start turning cards. The two-photo personal creator is a separate scratch-and-guess feature; it does not currently convert your uploaded pictures into Memory Match cards.
Memory Match rules in six steps
- Choose a theme. Animals, Food and Space & nature change the card pictures for a normal shuffled game.
- Turn over one card. Look at its picture and remember its row and column.
- Turn over a different card. The two-card choice counts as one move. Selecting the same open card again does not create another attempt.
- Keep a matching pair. If the pictures match, both remain face up and are removed from further choices.
- Remember a mismatch. Different pictures turn face down after a brief pause. Note their locations before making your next choice.
- Finish all eight pairs. The game shows your move count. Fewer moves means you found the pairs with fewer unsuccessful choices.
The theoretical minimum is eight moves: one successful move per pair. A first visit to a shuffled board will often take more because you are discovering the layout. A previous result from a different board is not an identical challenge.
What counts as one move?
Imagine the top-left card is a fox. You turn over a frog in the second row. That is one move and a mismatch; both will close again. Later you reveal another fox. If you remember the original fox’s position, your next two-card choice can complete the pair.
The useful habit is to remember picture plus location, rather than only the picture. “Fox in the top-left corner” is more actionable than “I saw a fox somewhere”. Use rows, columns or a small mental route across the board—whatever makes the next choice clearer to you.
A calmer way to play
Start near a corner and explore systematically. When you know where both members of a pair are, collect that pair before opening more unfamiliar cards. If a new card matches one you have already seen, pause briefly and recall its location before choosing. These are game tactics, not a promise of medical or cognitive benefits.
Daily Memory Match versus a new shuffled game
| Mode | What changes? | How to compare |
|---|---|---|
| New shuffled game | The cards are shuffled again; the selected theme is used. | Enjoy a fresh board. Different layouts are different challenges. |
| Daily Memory Match | A shared animal-card arrangement is chosen for the same UTC date. | Compare first attempts on the same date and avoid replaying the layout first. |
The daily boundary follows UTC, which may differ from midnight where you live. Reopening the same daily board is practice, not a new unknown layout. There is no verified online leaderboard or enforcement that everyone shares only a first attempt.
Use Copy my result to copy a message containing your progress or completed result and a game link. Send it through your preferred messaging service. Two friends can play on separate devices and compare results, but their boards are not connected as a live multiplayer room.
Pattern Memory uses order instead of picture positions
If you want a different challenge, open Pattern Memory. Watch numbered pads light up, then tap the pads in the same order. A correct round adds one more step. A wrong pad ends the run, and the Start button begins a fresh sequence.
The board has nine numbered pads. Mouse and touch work; number keys 1–9 can also be used while a pad has keyboard focus. Watch the full sequence before tapping. The game supports up to twenty completed rounds and saves a best-round figure in this browser when storage is available. Clearing browser data or using another browser can separate or remove that record.
Switching away from the page during an active pattern run resets it. That keeps a partly watched sequence from continuing unseen in another tab. If you want to pause your session, finish a run or use Stop / reset, then start again when ready.
A fair challenge with friends or family
Agree on the mode before comparing scores. For Memory Match, choose the same daily date and compare first-attempt move counts. For Pattern Memory, compare completed rounds rather than the number of taps. Let each player finish without someone else pointing to the answer.
For a shared screen, take turns rather than claiming the game supports simultaneous competition. Pick card themes the group recognises and let a new player try a practice round before you start a friendly comparison.
Common questions
Can I use my own photos in Memory Match?
The free public board uses built-in themes. Premium Photo Memory Match uses your own photo collection, with easy, medium and challenge rounds. It is one of four modes included in a photo-game pass.
Does this game require a timer?
Memory Match is scored here by moves and pairs, not a countdown. You can take a moment to look at each choice.
Is the daily result verified?
No. The shared layout makes a friendly comparison possible, but copied results are casual messages rather than independently verified scores.
